Alternet, WTF?

Alternet -- Well, isn't this special. An article with more on the drug contribution theory of family mass murders, the overwhelming most of which are father-perpetrated, opens with a joke and then does deliberate gender (and causation)-obscuring:

"Economic stress is usually blamed, but a bunch of government-approved psychoactive drugs have proven homicidal and suicidal side effects. The late comedian Richard Pryor used to riff... Today it wouldn't be funny. The occasional Susan Smith or Andrea Yates who kills her kids has given way to the weekly child, sibling, parent, grandparent, spouse and all-of-the-above killer..." http://www.alternet.org/story/139243/

"Weekly child, sibling, parent, grandparent, spouse and all-of-the-above killer"? I guess we could have a thousand more fathers blow away their families in misogynistic control-motivated mass annihilations, and idiots in the media still would be citing to Smith and Yates (15 and 8 years ago, respectively), and mixing in a handful of other cases with unrelated dynamics in order to create their false "balance".  Also see Will He Kill http://www.thelizlibrary.org/liz/will-he-kill.html and the past few weeks of posts on Justice's Posterous, particularly Join Up the Dots at http://justice.posterous.com/join-up-the-dots
