Man who was a poster child for victimized children has been sentenced to at least 25 years in prison for raping and choking a 10-year-old girl.

"Adam Croote, 23, whose own childhood was so wrenching that he was invited to the White House... pleaded guilty in March to attacking a child he was babysitting... When he was 2, his father killed his pregnant mother and left him alone with her body in Hinesville, Ga..." http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-04-28/poster-child-missing-kid...

Many people are commenting on this story, mostly going to astonishment that any parents would leave a registered sex offender babysit their children. Perhaps we should go further back. Perhaps Adam Croote shouldn't have been a "poster boy for missing children". What idiot decided that he should be raised by the same people who raised his murderer father? Perhaps if they had not made the maternal grandparents who "kidnapped" him into the bad guys, Croote wouldn't have turned into a multiple sex felon himself.

St. Louis, Missouri -- Father raped mother when she was 13, then spent decades thereafter raping his daughters and other children

"...It's a sordid tale involving her father, Ronald Little, who was convicted of raping her mother at age 13, and who then turned his attention to the daughter. He molested her repeatedly as she was growing up and, through her teenage years, took pictures of the encounters so he could remember them. She was in her early 20s by the time police came to her door in 2010. Little, 65, admitted to those allegations and was sentenced Friday in federal court to 20 years in prison for producing child pornography. But that's just the start of what he stands accused of.

"Police and court records paint a picture of a man who continued to sexually assault little girls, including his own children, from 1969 until two years ago, when he was finally caught..." http://www.kansascity.com/2012/03/24/3510455/child-abuser-who-raped-own-daugh...

Southern Poverty Law Center on the Fathers' Rights Movement

"...an underworld of misogynists, woman-haters whose fury goes well beyond criticism of the family court system, domestic violence laws, and false rape accusations. There are literally hundreds of websites, blogs and forums devoted to attacking virtually all women (or, at least, Westernized ones) -- the so-called "manosphere,"... While some of them voice legitimate and sometimes disturbing complaints about the treatment of men, what is most remarkable is the misogynistic tone that pervades so many. Women are routinely maligned as sluts, gold-diggers, temptresses and worse; overly sympathetic men are dubbed "manginas"; and police and other officials are called their armed enablers...

"But some experts argue that men's rights groups have been remarkably successful... have taken over the way courts deal with custody issues, particularly when there are allegations of abuse, largely by convincing them that there is such a thing as 'Parental Alienation Syndrome' (PAS)... have 'been able to get custody evaluators, mediators, guardians ad litem and child protective service workers to believe that women and children lie about abuse.'... http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2...

Northglenn, Colorado -- Father set house on fire and tried to murder his children after police let him leave with the children after he rammed his car (with the children inside) into mother's car at another location

"Two young children are still recovering from severe injuries, nearly a week-and-a-half after police say their father barricaded them inside their home and set the home on fire in Northglenn..." With his children inside his car, Bill Johnson rammed the vehicle into his estranged wife's car, parked at her friend's house. "'I can tell you that when our officers contacted the vehicle, all the children inside the car were safe', Northglenn Police Commander Jeremy Sloan said last week in a press conference after the fire..." The police officer let him go. The father drove back to his house with the children, barricaded them inside, and started the fire." http://www.9news.com/news/article/253521/222/Mom-Estranged-husband-tried-to-k...

New study -- Fathers kill children for revenge on their mothers when the women leave them

"A new study of child murders... men and women are equally capable of killing children, but their motives for killing are very different. Men are more likely to kill their children in order to take revenge on ex-partners and to make them suffer... The study, Just Say Goodbye, draws on court documents to analyse cases where children have died at the hands of parents whose relationship has broken down...

"[E]ven more than violence, research shows that a history of obsessive controlling behaviour -- a sense of entitlement -- can be a pointer to a man's inability to accept the separation... vengeful enough to kill their children to punish her for the separation...

"[O]ften obscured is the father's attitude to the mother during and after the relationship, his sense of entitlement to control the family, extreme anger with the mother over separation, and threats to harm the children..." http://www.theage.com.au/national/child-killer-study-finds-diverse-motives-fo...

Brisbane, Australia -- Another perfect, highly regarded, popular, successful, lovely, nice guy father murders a toddler, throwing him off a bridge

"Jason Lees, a popular private school teacher and successful international rugby referee, his wife Danielle Cara Sutton, a psychologist. Their two-year-old son a normal, well-adjusted boy. Their seemingly happy life together makes it even harder to understand what could have driven Mr. Lees to take his son to Brisbane's Story Bridge in the early hours of yesterday, throw him over the edge, before jumping himself... Local resident Craig Cooper told Fairfax media he witnessed the tragedy from his nearby balcony, describing a "blood curdling scream"... A few seconds later, he [Lees] jumped... Canton, Ohio -- Father slammed newborn infant's head into floor; stands trial for turning baby's life into vegetative state

Unmarried and apparently unemployed loser Anthony Lawrence Sewejkis "faces up to 15 years in prison". The child faces a life blind, possibly deaf, unable to move, unable to feed himself, and unable to communicate.

"Detective Wright spoke with Sewejkis at the hospital, saying the father initially told him Hunter had fallen off the couch. He said Sewejkis talked of the stresses of being a parent. 'He became emotional' and talked of losing sleep and not getting enough parenting help from [the child's mother] 'because she was working so much,'... Finally, Sewejkis admitted he picked up the crying baby with both hands and struck the back of his head against the floor, Wright said, quoting Sewejkis as saying, 'I freaked. I f***ed up. I hurt the child.'" http://www.hometownlife.com/article/20120105/NEWS03/120105011

Children are more credible, so why are we more likely to believe practiced adult liars

"Children are conditioned to trust adults. And for some reason adults are conditioned to almost always believe other adults over children... The sad thing is that children are really more credible than adults because they are not trained liars... Do children lie? Yes. But they're not good at it... Why are we as a society inclined to believe the person that is a skilled liar over the person who is not?" http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120101/LOCAL/301019940
