Apollo Beach, Florida -- Father sets fire to mother, leaving her in critical condition; he was not arrested after a domestic violence call to police a month earlier; more media bias calling it a "domestic dispute" and including neighbor quotes

"Audrey Mabrey, 23, is reported in critical condition". The alleged perpetrator, "Christopher Hanney, 44, is listed as stable at Tampa General Hospital... According to the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the Apollo Beach home for a report of domestic violence on October 20, but no one was arrested." http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Woman-set-on-fire-in-critical-condition/5Fulfbc2q0SeRgLxMnIDbg.cspx

Nichols Hills, Oklahoma -- Father, a medical doctor, hideously knifed to death his 9-year-old son while the child's mother, witness to the nightmare, attempted unsuccessfully to stop him

Stephen P. Wolf, M.D., murderer and family man. http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=12&articleid=20091117_12_A11_TommyW35758 Apparently there first was some kind of "altercation" in the child's room in the wee hours of the morning. WTF? What was he doing in the first place in the child's room at 3 a.m.? Wolf apparently told police when they arrived that the child had "the devil in him" and tried to stab the boy with a third knife, but was restrained. http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=11523777

Palm Bay, Florida -- Father who was previously arrested for domestic violence but not prosecuted storms estranged wife's home and holds her and two children hostage

"The unidentified man surrendered to Palm Bay SWAT team members at about 6 a.m. and was taken to the Palm Bay Community Hospital after appearing under the influence of an unknown substance... The woman and the children, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, managed to escape the home during the overnight hours, police said." http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20091117/BREAKINGNEWS/91117002/1006/news01/Dad+arrested+after+hostage+situation+ends+in+Palm+Bay
Lucky them that they are still alive. Note to defense-minded apologists: neither the woman nor the children were able under these circumstances to make the 911 call. Had this "event" somehow been managed, and then reported after the fact, perhaps in a family law case or in connection with the seeking of a restraining order, how seriously would you have taken it?
And get this idiotic media statment: "Investigators said it began as a fight between Christopher Lynch and his estranged wife. They said Lynch had two guns on him at the time of the standoff." http://www.wesh.com/news/21636380/detail.html  (First the media unidentifies him -- in case it's yet again just some "dad" -- see the floridatoday.com URL -- accused wrongly of domestic violence. And then another news source describes barging into someone else's home armed with two guns as a "fight".)

Manchester, New Hampshire -- Remarried custodial father murders wife, shoots her father twice in the back when he attempts to flee with her body, then kills himself; she had obtained restraining order and filed for divorce

Melissa Charbonneau had returned with her father to the marital home to collect some of her belongings, thinking Jonathan Charbonneau would be at work. http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=At+least+two+shot+on+Jewett+Street&articleId=e7be83fe-a2d6-486a-b4d9-a120cbf7dacd
http://www.necn.com/Boston/New-England/2009/10/23/Mother-shot-in-murdersuicide/1256333747.html
An issue unaddressed by the news media is why this abusive and violent man, who also had a 7-year-old with his current wife, had "two children by a former relationship" living with him.
Also unaddressed is why he was not arrested and jailed based on the incident that prompted the restraining order, and why he wasn't ordered out of the marital home. Choking, drug-taking, and depression are warning signs of possible lethality. See http://www.thelizlibrary.org/liz/will-he-kill.html

Lakeland, Florida -- Father murders mother, stuffs her in trunk of car, then jumps off bridge; Ledger does human interest story downplaying the domestic violence; shame on Hillsboro divorce court for granting visitation to batterer

"By about 6 p.m. Monday, the usually busy playground at Happy Days School in Lakeland had emptied of children, all except for Kelly Laird. The 7-year-old brunette waited in vain for the mother who would never come again... Sheryl Laird's body was found in the trunk of a car set afire on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa. The child's father, Robert Laird, had plunged to his death from the span... If she was plagued by problems with her ex-husband... [she] didn't seem to show it... Even if they didn't get along, she didn't let that rattle his relationship with [the little girl]..." http://www.theledger.com/article/20091013/NEWS/910135042/1410?Title=Ex-Husband-Suspected-In-a-Murder-Suicide

Lebanon, Pennsylvania -- Father murders mother of three, and biased New York Daily News yammers on about how the "soccer mom gained national attention" last year toting a gun... without mentioning once who was the murderer in the murder-suicide

Scott Hain, separated from his wife Meleanie, returned home and killed her, apparently in front of the screaming children. Perhaps she had to carry a gun because she couldn't count on protection from the local police, who instead preferred to harass her. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2009/10/08/2009-10-08_guntoting_pa_soccer_mom_husband_found_shot_dead_in_apparent_murdersuicide.html
"...Meleanie Hain made headlines after she attended a children's soccer game in a park on Sept. 11, 2008, with a handgun in plain view holstered on her hip, upsetting other parents. The county sheriff, Michael DeLeo, revoked her gun-carrying permit nine days later. Hain successfully appealed the permit revocation... sued DeLeo in federal court, alleging that he violated her constitutional rights and prosecuted her maliciously when he took the permit away. She said that because of his actions her baby-sitting service had suffered, her children had been harassed and she had been ostracized..."  More on the real story at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2262617/soccer_mom_melanie_hain_and_husband.html http://delawarelibertarian.blogspot.com/2009/10/melanie-hain-as-tragedy-becomes-fodder.html

Enough of Roman Polanski

He belongs in prison. He belongs in prison for running out on an already ridiculously overly-lenient plea deal, and for making a mockery of the law against child rape. (Not "statutory rape", but "rape". See the Grand Jury transcript http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/polanskicover1.html ) He would have had to serve a paltry few months. If that. Can we now stop giving media attention to this case, and to all the perverts and apologists in Hollywood whose misguided intentions degrade women and children, and cheapen and distort public opinion? How many children have been denied justice because, in minds of some judge or jury, it's nothing worse than what Roman Polanski did... http://www.dailymail.com/Opinion/DonSurber/200909300359 http://www.thenation.com/blogs/anotherthing/479379/roman_polanski_has_a_lot_of_friends

Owosso, Michigan -- Son claims that his slain "pro-life" activist father James Pouillon was no martyr, didn't care about abortion, but wanted to "stalk, harass, terrorize, scream at, threaten, frighten, and verbally abuse women"

"He had a pathologic hatred of women: his mom, my mom, everyone. After my mom finally left him and he lost his favorite punching bag the violence and abuse that was always contained within our 4 walls was unleased on the people of Owosso. My dad used the pro-life movement and 1st Amendments foundations to defend him, support him, and enable him. He fooled them all..." Dailynews.com: media bias -- "Thousand Oaks Tragedy: Jobless dad, kids in murder-suicide". The headline should read: Recently divorced father in custody litigation stabs to death 12-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter while having visitation

Good god. Connie Llanos, Jerry Berrios and Kevin Modesti, dailynews.com staff writers make this sound like a human interest story, complete with a charming picture of a pretty little girl bearing flowers. James Mulvaney hideously murdered his children, stabbing them to death with a knife. He did it in under the most usual circumstances: a divorce (or separation) from the children's mother and child custody litigation. Making this even more horrible, the children's mother, who is given no sympathy at all in the story, found her children's multilated dead bodies. Mulvaney's "tragic" job situation wasn't why he murdered his children. This news article is the worst example of media bias we've seen in a very long time. WTF is with you guys? http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_13362417

NOTE TO OTHER REPORTERS: Trag·e·dy (trj-d) n. pl. trag·e·dies - 1. A drama or literary work in which the main character is brought to ruin or suffers extreme sorrow, especially as a consequence of a tragic flaw, moral weakness, or inability to cope with unfavorable circumstances...  THESE CASES ARE NOT "TRAGEDIES". THEY ARE OUTRAGES.
