Southern Poverty Law Center on the Fathers' Rights Movement

"...an underworld of misogynists, woman-haters whose fury goes well beyond criticism of the family court system, domestic violence laws, and false rape accusations. There are literally hundreds of websites, blogs and forums devoted to attacking virtually all women (or, at least, Westernized ones) -- the so-called "manosphere,"... While some of them voice legitimate and sometimes disturbing complaints about the treatment of men, what is most remarkable is the misogynistic tone that pervades so many. Women are routinely maligned as sluts, gold-diggers, temptresses and worse; overly sympathetic men are dubbed "manginas"; and police and other officials are called their armed enablers...

"But some experts argue that men's rights groups have been remarkably successful... have taken over the way courts deal with custody issues, particularly when there are allegations of abuse, largely by convincing them that there is such a thing as 'Parental Alienation Syndrome' (PAS)... have 'been able to get custody evaluators, mediators, guardians ad litem and child protective service workers to believe that women and children lie about abuse.'... http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2...

Northglenn, Colorado -- Father set house on fire and tried to murder his children after police let him leave with the children after he rammed his car (with the children inside) into mother's car at another location

"Two young children are still recovering from severe injuries, nearly a week-and-a-half after police say their father barricaded them inside their home and set the home on fire in Northglenn..." With his children inside his car, Bill Johnson rammed the vehicle into his estranged wife's car, parked at her friend's house. "'I can tell you that when our officers contacted the vehicle, all the children inside the car were safe', Northglenn Police Commander Jeremy Sloan said last week in a press conference after the fire..." The police officer let him go. The father drove back to his house with the children, barricaded them inside, and started the fire." http://www.9news.com/news/article/253521/222/Mom-Estranged-husband-tried-to-k...

New study -- Fathers kill children for revenge on their mothers when the women leave them

"A new study of child murders... men and women are equally capable of killing children, but their motives for killing are very different. Men are more likely to kill their children in order to take revenge on ex-partners and to make them suffer... The study, Just Say Goodbye, draws on court documents to analyse cases where children have died at the hands of parents whose relationship has broken down...

"[E]ven more than violence, research shows that a history of obsessive controlling behaviour -- a sense of entitlement -- can be a pointer to a man's inability to accept the separation... vengeful enough to kill their children to punish her for the separation...

"[O]ften obscured is the father's attitude to the mother during and after the relationship, his sense of entitlement to control the family, extreme anger with the mother over separation, and threats to harm the children..." http://www.theage.com.au/national/child-killer-study-finds-diverse-motives-fo...

Brisbane, Australia -- Another perfect, highly regarded, popular, successful, lovely, nice guy father murders a toddler, throwing him off a bridge

"Jason Lees, a popular private school teacher and successful international rugby referee, his wife Danielle Cara Sutton, a psychologist. Their two-year-old son a normal, well-adjusted boy. Their seemingly happy life together makes it even harder to understand what could have driven Mr. Lees to take his son to Brisbane's Story Bridge in the early hours of yesterday, throw him over the edge, before jumping himself... Local resident Craig Cooper told Fairfax media he witnessed the tragedy from his nearby balcony, describing a "blood curdling scream"... A few seconds later, he [Lees] jumped... The final journey of Mr Lees and his son began when he took the toddler from their home in Seven Hills... strapped him into the babyseat of his bicycle and rode the remaining couple of hundred metres to the outbound side of the bridge..." http://www.news.com.au/national/fathers-betrayal-of-an-innocent-boy/story-e6f...

About those "nice guys"...

"Dangerous Instincts: Ex-FBI profiler explains dangers of that 'nice' neighbor... O'Toole worked as a profiler for the FBI for 30 years, headquartered in Quantico... the most dangerous criminals were often the ones who came across as the most harmless. That's how they were able to continue harming people. 'Over the years, I used to hear this all the time. Other investigators would explain to her why they had disregarded suspects: I just looked at him, man to man, and I could tell that he was a good guy'... It bothered her enough that she decided to write a book whose premise goes against everything humans want to believe about their hunches. Your gut instinct? Houston, Texas -- Lohstroh son, now 17, once convicted of killing his abusive father Rick Lohstroh, nears the end of his childhood nightmare

"It was a crime scene that changed a 10-year-old boy's life..." http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/news/local/111024-nearing-finale-for-son-conv...

Father's rights groups readily blamed the mother and "parental alienation". In 2004, media widely reported the ignorant pollyanna spew from neighbors, co-workers, and casual acquaintances about whataniceguy Lohstroh was. The decision from the Court of Appeals, overturning that conviction, told a very different story. http://www.thelizlibrary.org/therapeutic-jurisprudence/lohstroh.pdf The media, still hyperventilating for the sensational, did not adequately bring out that this boy got and accepted his juvenile parole offer only because he should have been acquitted in the first place on the grounds of self-defense -- and the D.A. knew it. Copping to a plea saved his family the cost and misery of another trial. It's "sad" that he got a gun? What is "sad" is that this child's only choice was between another decade of being abused or ending it. There is no good damn reason that when he said he was scared, when he said he and his brother were being physically and sexually abused, when he said he did not want to go with his joint custody father, that he wasn't believed, and that the judicial and police power of the state would not allow him to have a peaceful childhood, that his fathers' ego wants and demands were considered more credible and more important. For what. They are not. See Myths and Facts about Fatherhood at thelizlibrary.org

Port Chester, New York -- Teen daughter apparently killed abusive custodial father

The boy's dad, Michael Ray James, and stepmother, Tina Alberson, both 42, were jailed after being charged Thursday with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. Sacramento, California -- Father murdered two-year-old daughter in the ubiquitous "custody dispute"; excuses made for the abuser

"In a letter handed to KCRA3, Mourad Samaan's father outlines a custody dispute between his son and Marcia Fay, the mother of 2-year-old Madeline... 'After the separation while pregnant, You refused to SHARE with the Father to be your pregnancy medical condition,' Samaan wrote in the letter..." http://www.kcra.com/news/28871771/detail.html#ixzz1VFSHEnCR The media stories repeating the psychologist paternal grandfather's and others' excuses for this beastly behavior, effectively and inappropriately endorse them. http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_18692508?nclick_check=1

Note to the media and the family courts: stop the pretense at ignorance. Stop it. Pregnant women don't just up and leave their marriages without a good reason, and in their condition it's rarely that they are having an affair. They leave because he's abusive. He's ALREADY abusive. Their leaving him, and their "refusal to share" isn't the cause. That's mother-blaming. And it's bias.

Here's more crap, with the lawyer brother of the murderer apparently approving of the murder-suicide and blaming it on the mother. (Another beauty raised by this sickwit father psychologist and family court mediator, currently pending psych board investigation on a variety of unrelated charges.) http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/ktxl-amber-alert-deaths-deter...

And here's yet more media crap: http://www.sacbee.com/2011/08/17/3842824/bitter-custody-fight-foreshadowed.html (How was this shithead of a "father" at a "disadvantage" in family court when his own father was a family court psych, and his brother was a lawyer?)

Further note: the judge on the case, who gave the dangerous pig unsupervised visitation, Judge James Mize, has politically supported "parental alienation" theory, and was instrumental in the fight against activist groups who tried to get this junk out of the court system.
